Skin Needling with Dermapen 4
Beautiful, flawless skin is simply radiant; it is soft to the touch, smooth in appearance, and seems to glow from within. Over time, however, we often develop fine lines, wrinkles and age spots that detract from our skin’s natural luminosity. Stretch marks, cellulite and scars can also hinder our appearance. Fortunately, scientists and researchers have created an amazing, minimally invasive technique to address these concerns and completely rejuvenate damaged skin: Collagen Induction Therapy.
Collagen Induction Therapy, commonly known as microneedling or dermapen microneedling, stimulates the body’s natural collagen production by creating microscopic punctures on the skin, therefore generating a wound-healing response. This wound-healing response signals our body to produce more collagen and elastin which plumps up the skin, creating supple, youthful results.
Our Brisbane clinic utilizes the most technologically advanced microneedling device, the Dermapen 4, to administer Collagen Induction Therapy. It was launched in 2018 and promises to reinvent the field of microneedling.
The Worlds #1 Micro Needling System
- Dermapen 4 improves skin’s elasticity, pore size, scar appearance, and more by generating 47.69% more holes than the Dermapen 3.
- Creates 104% more microchannels than other devices.
- Exclusive scar treatment algorithm and protocols provides the “best in class” treatment for scars.
- Built-in Anti-Contamination Management system and Fluid Guard mechanisms make it the safest device on the market.
- Revolutionary 16 needle cartridge.
- World’s first digital and Bluetooth Microneedling platform.
What Types of Conditions Can Be Treated With Microneedling?
Microneedling treatments with the Dermapen 4 can improve a variety of skin conditions such as scarring and pigmentation in addition to its anti-aging benefits. Virtually any type of imperfection can be minimized with collagen induction therapy.
Do you ever feel like you just look tired all the time? Good news! Dark under-eye circles and bags can be drastically minimized with micro needling. It’s quite an easy fix. The skin under our eyes is incredibly thin and dark circles appear because blood pooling around your eyes becomes visible.
When our practitioners use the Dermapen 4 on these areas, increased collagen production creates a thicker layer of skin and fills in the lines under your eyes. The increased elastin production also helps reduce any sagginess. Since you can’t see pooled blood under the thickened skin and the lines/sagginess have disappeared, dark under eye circles will be a thing of the past. You simply will not look as tired anymore after our microneedling treatments.
Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Microneedling noticeably diminishes fine lines and wrinkles of any sort. Crow’s feet, laugh lines, forehead wrinkles, and general laxity can be greatly reduced by utilizing the body’s own collagen and elastin production to fill in these lines. Areas around the neck, chest, hands, and other areas of the body can also be treated.
In addition to utilizing the skin’s natural collagen production, microneedling also creates microchannels that allow your skin to effectively carry active ingredients from other liquid treatments straight to the underlying cells. Some of these liquid treatments include growth factors, vitamin C, or platelet rich plasma. Since the Dermapen 4 creates 104% more microchannels than other devices, our success with combining liquid treatments is greatly improved.
Most of us have scars on our skin from simply living a life, but not all of us want to keep those scars forever! Scar treatment through microneedling works by essentially speeding up the scar healing process through inducing the skin cells to regenerate.
We are incredibly excited to offer our patients the best care possible with the Dermapen 4’s advancements in scar treatment. It is the only microneedling instrument that includes a dedicated scar setting and protocols. Several types of scarring can be treated by the Dermapen 4:
- acne scars (such as ice pick, box car, rolling, and hypertrophic acne scars)
- surgical scarring
- burn contracture
- stretch marks/striae
Acne scarring can be particularly frustrating as the scars may look very similar to the actual pimples that cause them. They may look bright red in color or even create pockmarks on your face. Microneedling will reduce the pigmentation and even out the indentions caused by acne scarring. When the skin regenerates itself, the younger skin that rises to the surface is new and unmarred by acne.
Another type of scarring, surgical scarring, is caused by injury to the skin during surgery. Surgical scarring can be difficult to treat since all the layers of skin are typically damaged by an incision. Several types of tissue like hypertrophic and keloid scars are typically involved. With the Dermapen 4’s needle penetration of up to 3 mm and advanced automatic calibration, we are now able to treat a wider range of these difficult surgical scars. Larger, deeper scars may require several treatments.
Burn contracture and stretch marks/striae, like surgical scarring, often involve a matrix of scar tissue. Burn contracture occurs when the burned skin constricts, making it feel “too tight” and creating a wrinkled, uneven appearance. Stretch marks occur when skin is pulled beyond what it can reasonably take. Microneedling restores the skin’s natural elasticity and reduces the feel and appearance of these types of scars.
Many men and women of all ages suffer from pigmentation, a condition in which melanin is produced unevenly throughout the skin. It can be caused by sun exposure, hormonal changes, certain types of medications, aging, and many other environmental factors. Several types of pigmentation that can be effectively treated with microneedling include:
- Hypopigmentation Vitiligo
- Seborrheic dermatitis
While other treatments that promise to correct pigmentation exist, many consider microneedling to be the safest, most cost-effective way to treat these conditions.
Why Can’t I Just Treat Myself At Home?
If you’ve done internet research on microneedling, you’ve probably come across microneedling devices that you can buy and use at home. Why not simply buy one of these (often relatively inexpensive) devices and try it out at home?
For starters, at-home microneedling devices are much less effective and can even injure your skin. Dermal rollers, for example, can cause injury to the skin since they cannot hit the skin at a straight 90 degree angle as they are a circular device. When needles hit the skin at an angle that’s not directly perpendicular to the skin, they can cause scratching and scraping. This repeated scratching can cause injury and scarring.
Other at-home microneedling devices contain much shorter, lower quality needles. These types of needles are ineffective and can also be damaging. Practitioners with extensive amounts of training and experience are required to know the precise depth a needle should penetrate the skin in order to properly treat skin conditions. Most people who use at-home devices simply cause more harm than good because they’re not properly trained.
